The Don looked at Zeain with interest as he destroyed the parath. "You didnt tell me that you brought an elemental. This is exactly what was needed. I suspect that he hadnt been broken in completely has he." Dama looked at The Don in surprise and would have blushed if she could, if it was anyone other than the Don. "I havent. I think it might be better if he was a bit more free than the others." The Don smiled and coughed a little. "Same old Dama." The Don then looked at the arena and saw the parath dieing. He then gave the verdict for the parath. Death. After that the Arena was done for the day and the watchers left for the day, most curseing their luck for not betting on the boy, and others laughing as happy as they can be at the small fortuine that they aquired. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reno woke up a little before it was time to head to the Oasis and shook himself awake. He woundered faintly where Abra was before heading for the Oasis to start his religious work.

Zeain was led back to his cell and he slumped against the wall exosted. This was a new kind of exoshen then he was used to feeling though. His body was tired, but his mind was wide awake and alert. For the first time he found himself noticing Abra in the cell, and watched her as she played with a dagger in her lap, seeming indecisive. She payed him no mind though, thinking that he would simply ignore her like before. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The parath elder was already at the Oasis, sipping at a small bowl full of wine like the night before. He seemed lost in thought as Reno approached, and the human should note that the air around the parath was much colder then that farther away. It was like a pocket of freezing air surrounded the parath at all times. "Ah, good, you've come.... Any difficulties so far?" He asked without looked towards Reno.

'Hello elder.' Reno stopped and thought for a moment before shakeing his head. There wasnt any real difficulties so far, he body was lighter than it was with the automail arms by a few pounds so it was easier to jump the distance {almost} like a parath. 'No real dificulties sir, only minor annoyances.' A question on where Abra was tried to make his mouth move but it wasnt enough. He trusted the elder, maybe too much it seems.

The elder nodded, before gesturing tweeds a large sand dune in the distance. "You'll find a large pile of rocks at the base of that sand dune. Move them by any means possible, into a pile at the top, also." The elder stood up, taking out a piece of cloth from a pouch, and walked behind Reno. "Now Volmark, look at where you have to go, and think of the task you were given. Memorize exactly what, and where everything is. You like me, will have to go threw the rest of today and tomorrow blind." With that said he wrapped the cloth around Reno's face, tided it, before going back to where he was siting before. "Once your finished, return here and you'll be given your next task."

Reno barely got a glimpse of the dune before the cloth was slipped onto his eyes. He had memorised the dune as much as he could but his eyes wernt as sharp as a patah's so it was slightly blurred. After the Elder told Reno what to do he started off for the dune a bit slowly. It took him the better part of an hour to get there and the sun was ablove the horision by the time he had finished and gotten back to the elder. Needless to say his legs were more than a little sore and brused but he had did it, even tough he spent most of the first hour stumbleing around and on his face and back. He had checked to make sure there werent any rocks left before heading back. He was a tad bit out of breath but he recovered quickly. 'Done sir.'

The elder was quite smoking, filling the air with a oddly sweet fragrance. "Vary good Volmark, you finished sooner then I would have expected. I had thought midday would come and go before he returned. The gods must be willing to forgive you if they gave you the intellect, and ability to so such a task without your arms." The Elder said, speaking in a voice that didn't sound nearly as impressed as the meaning of the words spoken. He smoked in silence for a few moments, breathing out dark smoke, before getting up. "Follow." He commanded, walking almost silently towards the Oasis.
A few mins later, he stopped in front of a large stack of borders, and took out a key. Holding it in front of Reno's face he said. "Take this, and climb to the top of these rocks, once up there, dive into the water. It's the only way you'll be able to make it to the bottom without your arms. Once down there, finger out a way to unlock the box, and bring to me the stone found inside." His orders where clear... But Reno would have to try meny times over before he would even be able to locate a small chest at the bottom of the Oasis blind as he was.

The smoke that the elder was makeing was almost like a cigereete but stronger and a different flavor. It made Reno a little woozy when he first smelled it but he shook it off and followed after the Elder, to the best extent that he could, towards the oasis. He nodded his understanding at his task and grabbed the key with his teeth before climbing to the top of one of the bolders and took deep breath before diveing in. He came up a few moments later with the key still in his teeth and climbed the rock again. He repeated again and again and was about to hit the hundreth time when his leg brushed against the chest. He grabbed the chest with his legs and pulled it towards him before searching for the key hole. His lungs were starting to burn but he managed to open it and grabbed the stone with his mouth and swam up and to the shore before spitting the stone out and takeing huge breaths. 'D....Done sir.'

"Hm... Vary Good Volmark." The Elder said, picking up the stone from the sand and feeling the runes carved into it. "Please sit down... Mediate for awhile, then tell me what it is that you believe in. Do you really think there is some being above, judging us below, or some other form of power keeping things in balance?" The elder asked, sounding interested in Reno's beliefs.

Reno didnt resist the elders command and sank to his knees before thinking about what the elder asked him. He thought for a few moments before answering him. 'I do believe that there is a paradise and a hell. God and the devil both exist and their struggle is what keeps the ballance of all. They are doubble sided and they create together, God giveing half of the soul and the devil the other, and the halves are returned to them. Sorry if Im monologeing, its easy to talk religion with me.' He still carried most of the beliefs of his old religion and it was more than a little complex.

The Elder nodded simply, thought Reno would not be able to see. "So the soul, to you anyways, it made of both light and dark, with neither able to exist on it's own. Interesting." He mused, thinking on that for a few moments. "Well... As you are following Paratharien tradition right now, I'll explain the basics our beliefs. There is only one creator, or god if you want to call him that. He made two resting places for the souls that leave the world, Oblivion and what you would call Heaven, the souls of all living beings existing and to come, this world, and the Great Ones at the beginning of time. Since then, he has slept, leaving the Great Ones with his power. "The Great Ones where the only sentient beings here for hundreds of thousands of years. They never aged, and some point, they became bored with that. We don't know for sure which came first. Some stories say that the Humans where created before the parathariens, and the..." His voice trailed off, and it was obvious he was editing out part of the tail.
"Some think that the Great Ones took two of their favorit beasts, compinting them, and granting them intelligence, creating paraths, and humans came afterwards, as the result of one of the great ones reshaping a Parath that was unhappy with the way they where. Another, that most of the paraths believe, is that they made humans first, and one came before them to be blessed by resemping the Great Ones themselves and with some of there power."The Elder sighed and took a deep breath.
"As Humans and Paraths Grew in number, the Great Ones split the land, giving the Paraths their home land in the north, and the humans another part. After years upon years, the great ones themselves fell into slumber like the creator, and hid themselves away in the depths of the earth, in stone." The Elder finished his tail, and sighed getting up and stretching. "Come with me back to the city, you'll finish your mediation there."

Reno listened to the elder's tale with intererest. It sounded fimilar to him, maybe it was a bit like the old greek religion, just focused on the earth under them. He nodded before getting up and following the elder. Thankfuly there were few people and it was easy to follow the elder in the city. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Don was being moved through the holding cells of the Arena as if the wheel chair was moveing itself. He stopped right infront of Zeain and Abra's cell and looked at the two of them. "So your the one that Dama offered up as a prize to the winner. You must have realy ticked her off." He looked at the two of them interestly, unlike the gaze of a slave trader, but like they were two people that were down on their luck and almost like he knew what they were going through. "And Dama calls you Zeain right? Im impressed with your preformance today in the Arena. If you stay alive and keep the crowd you might survive the Arena." It was rare to hear advice comeing from The Don and it was usualy helpful to do it.

The elder stopped in front of the door to the chamber he had talked to Reno in last night, and opened the door. A blast of cold air hit him and he sighed in relief before walking in. The cool air was always comforting, but also part of Reno's testing. The cold air would quickly freeze Reno's clothes, and he would have to work to keep warm, or risk freezing to death. One the boy was in, the elder shut the door, before going to the back and sitting down to meditate. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zeain nodded simply, unsure really of a good response. It was comforting to hear someone say he might live, but saying was always easier then doing. Abra on the other hand said nothing to the Don, ignoring him completely. If he really wanted to help, he would have simply let them out instead of running the fights himself. Raven suddenly appeared from the shadows by the Don and looked down at him, before looking to Abra. She took a sharp intake of breath once she saw his eyes. Dispit looking quite human, his red eyes showed the true nacher of his parents. She looked away from him as well though, but the smell of blood, coming from his swords hung in the air around him. So he was the one the had killed the slaves to help her once before.

Reno started to shivver as soon as the door open and followed the elder in mecanicly. By the time he sat down he was trying to keep what ever small amount of heat he had left under his frozen clothes. He thought that it might be easier if he could use alcamy before he mentaly slapped himself. That was the point! To overcome without the use of his arms or alcamy, just like he had been when he came here. He gritted his teeth and forced himself to bear it untill he could no more. That would most likely take much of the day and the following night to pass that thresshold.

The Elder meditated silently, keeping his ears focused on Reno's vitals so that the human didn't pass away because of this test. Really, it wasn't much different from one that they did back in the home land, but instead of soaking their clothes they had to strip and soke their fur, to show that they didn't fear the cold and it held no sway over them. The longer you could stand it, the higher regard you where placed in.
Raven came in a few hours later, and bow, getting on one knee in front of the elder. "How do things go?" The elder asked, sounding slightly worried. "Good. None have proven a challenge yet though." The half breed spoke without emotion, giving the impression of him being nothing more then a robot. The elder knew better then that though. He had witnessed his boy before when he was enraged. They had no control over himself and became possed, killing without reason. They had shown remore after words, and that was the only reason he had sheltered them from the law.

Reno had lasted about 6 hours of the intense cold before keeling over and shivering violently. He had been off by alot but it was better than most paraths that did the trial. Raven had comeing durring the last few hours but Reno hadnt even notice, he was completely focused on heating his core and couldnt notice anything else. All he realy needed was a heat source and some time near or under the heat source. 'T-t-t-t-t-t-time sir.' He could barely get those words out and he lips were starting to turn blue. He was geting close to being frost biten.
